Organic Tazpresso

Bag of 250g ground coffee

100% organic / 100% fair trade coffee

Tazpresso is made from organic and Fair Trade African beans. It's a delicious blend specially created for 'taz' in collaboration with the fair trade company GEPA.

Coffee from Africa
Pure African coffee is something special, because only one sixth of the world's coffee comes from Africa. The tazpresso coffee beans are grown by coffee cooperatives in 3 countries: Ethiopia, Uganda and Tanzania.

The tazpresso blend is made from Ethiopian Arabica beans, which are among the most appreciated by connoisseurs. This is hardly surprising, given that Ethiopia is the 'cradle of coffee' and has the longest tradition of coffee growing and drinking of any country. The Ethiopian coffee comes from the Sidama Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union. The blend also includes coffee beans from the Gumutindo Coffee Cooperative in eastern Uganda and the Kagera Cooperative Union (KCU) in Tanzania. These 3 cooperatives practise organic farming.

Fair trade
Tazpresso is clearly a Fairtrade coffee. Although the price of coffee beans on the world market is relatively high at the moment, it fluctuates a lot and the risk of it falling into the abyss is always very high. Individual coffee producers are dependent on this if they do not organise themselves into Fair Trade consortia or cooperatives. Under GEPA fair trade, coffee producers can count on long-term trading relationships and always receive a price for their coffee that is significantly higher than the world market price.

This means that social and medical projects, infrastructure measures, school building, etc. can be implemented and supported on a long-term basis. The advantage for coffee consumers lies in the consistently high quality of Fairtrade coffee. The market share of Fairtrade coffee in Germany (where GEPA is based) is just under 2%, although this figure is rising steadily.
