Tamper (Barista-Line) Rune Wild Olive / Olive wood - Hauck

Top-of-the-range Tamper from the Barista line, diameter 58.4 mm

Hauck is a family-run manufacturer based in Gampern, Austria. It is here that top-of-the-range accessories have been made using traditional know-how for over 30 years. Using top-quality materials and technical expertise, founder Otto Hauck's team creates real jewels.

What makes this Tamper so special?
This Tamper is part of the Barista-Line. It's characterised by its noble raw materials, perfect finish and excellent value for money. A special feature of Hauck tamper is that virtually all the components, including the wooden handle and the lower part/base of the tamper, come from the region of production. Both are made in Upper Austria. This is testament to the company's sustainability.

Materials and use
The ergonomic handle on this tamper is made from polished and oiled olive wood. The flat base is made of stainless steel, as are the spacer rings, which can be removed individually to configure the height of the tamper to your liking. The top of the base is silicone-coated for a better grip. The materials and purposeful construction create a low, balanced centre of gravity, making it easy to use. The total weight of 320g makes pressing a breeze and the ground coffee seems to press itself.

Simple yet perfect, this incredibly attractive tamper will be an eye-catcher in your kitchen. It enhances the whole coffee experience and turns every espresso into something very special.

How do I use the tamper correctly?
The Tamper is used to compact/press the coffee grinds in the filter holder. The aim is to obtain a disc or puck of coffee that is as smooth and even as possible. This is important so that the hot water can circulate evenly. The best way to do this is to position the Tamper directly upright, from above, and press downwards with a slight twisting motion. This will distribute the ground coffee evenly. Here too, the well-known proverb ‘practice makes perfect’ applies. However, if you want to extract an absolutely perfect, flawless espresso, you'll also find the Hauck coffee tamper a great help.
