Jamaica Blue Mountain Tasting Set
2 packs of 250g each and 1 pack of 500g (total 1000g)
Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee beans are among the finest qualities and most expensive in the world. They are named after the area where they are grown - the Blue Mountains on the coast of Jamaica. In 1728, the then Jamaican governor, Sir Nicolas Lawes, received a gift of some Arabica coffee plants, which he planted at high altitude. It was later discovered that the growing conditions there were absolutely perfect.
The St. Andrew plateau sits at 2000 meters above sea level, and despite the altitude, the temperature hovers around 25-30 degrees Celsius. Fluctuations of only 5 degrees in temperature and 10% humidity annually make the climate of this place truly unique. Jamaica sits on the northern side of the Caribbean tectonic plate, which moves directly beneath the North American plate off the coast. Over millions of years, this has caused constant tectonic movement, enriching the island's soil with large quantities of precious minerals from deep within the earth. Additionally, Jamaica's northeastern coast receives up to 5,000 mm of precipitation annually, resulting in a significant amount of mist due to high temperatures. These conditions cause the coffee cherries to grow very slowly. Thanks to the long maturation period, the beans develop an incomparably delicate yet extremely flavorful aroma.
The harvesting of Blue Mountain coffee beans is very challenging. The steep slopes of the Jamaican coast make it difficult for farmers to collect the precious ripe cherries. Only experienced coffee pickers perform this work.
The flavor of the beans is a perfect composition of light sweetness, barely perceptible acidity, and a fruity note with hints of dried fruit. The intense aroma and very persistent flavor on the palate make Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee something very special. All 3 blends in the set are perfected with this high-class bean variety.
