What characterises this tamper?
Hauck divides its Tampers into different categories. This noble masterpiece belongs to the Barista line. It is characterised above all by its simple yet high-quality raw materials, impeccable workmanship and excellent value for money. Materials and workmanship
The lightweight handle of this tamper is made of nylon and has an ergonomic shape. The flat underside is made of solid stainless steel, as are the spacer rings, which you can remove individually to configure the height of the tamper according to your wishes. Hauck calls this comfortable concept 'MyFit Design'. The top is coated with skin-friendly silicone for extra grip. The tamper has a balanced, low centre of gravity that makes it easier to handle.
How is the tamper used correctly?
Pressing coffee means compacting the ground coffee in the filter holder. The aim is to create a disc of coffee that is as smooth and flat as possible. This is important so that the hot water meets the same resistance at every point in the filter. If the coffee powder is not evenly distributed, the water will seek the path of least resistance and flow through the coffee unevenly. This will lead to a poor extraction result. The best technique is to position the tamper directly from above and press it downwards in a gentle rotary motion. This rotary motion on the end ensures that the surface of the ground coffee is evenly distributed. Of course, practising pays off.
