Elbgold

Elbgold-LogoGold from the Elbe in Hamburg. The roasting plant is located right in the heart of the city. In the Schanzenviertel district, around 110 tonnes of green coffee are processed each year using the Probat G45 roaster. All the coffees are marketed directly, meaning that the company is in close contact with the coffee growers and visits them regularly. Thanks to direct trade, coffee growers in Honduras, India, etc. are fairly remunerated for their work. Elbgold has grown over the years and currently runs six cafés in Hamburg. In the meantime, the brand has spread beyond the city's borders.

Elbgold

Elbgold was founded only in 2004 and is one of the youngest companies in the coffee industry. Located in Hamburg’s Schanze district, it specializes in artisanal roasting of select specialty coffees from Ethiopia, Guatemala, and other countries. The brand’s best-known blends are Neunbar (9bar) and Classico.

Each year, this small company roasts approximately 110 tons of coffee in a Probat G45 rotating drum roaster. The roaster holds only 35 kg of green coffee at a time to maintain a consistent roast level and ensure optimal quality.

Each Elbgold coffee is sourced through direct trade, with the company regularly visiting coffee farmers, and each variety is tasted in its country of origin. The brand places great importance on farmers' cultivation methods, particularly regarding environmental protection and social sustainability.

Fair payment is especially important, as the roaster bases its prices on coffee quality rather than international market prices. Most farmers have worked with Elbgold for over ten years.

After roasting, the coffees are tasted with the barista, and they continually refine the perfect recipe for manual Japanese V60, AeroPress, or traditional filter coffee machine brewing.
